Age UK East London
Chair & Trustees

What does the organisation do?
Age UK East London presents an interesting situation. Three East London borough Age UKs – Hackney Tower Hamlets and Newham have combined forces into a Uniting Direction model. It's important to stress that they haven't merged as they will retain their local charity and operational identity, but will now have a single board above and joint senior management. Three trustees from each of the old boards will form the new board. What is required now is a Chair.
What is the opportunity?
The existing board of trustees has taken the decision to seek a Chair with the requisite skills and experience needed to take the organisation forward during the imminent transition from grants to contracts and the attendant challenges of the funding environment and drive social enterprise growth across East London.
This is an interesting opportunity at a time of fundamental change in how older people will be able to access and choose the services and support they need, and as the new organisation moves forward into partnership with the national charity Age UK. They are at the forefront of supporting older people in East London to manage their independence and enjoy a good quality of life. They have excellent relationships with their partners in the Borough and look to build on this for future success.
What competencies do you need?
They are particularly interested in applications from candidates who have previously held a Chair role and who can demonstrate excellent leadership qualities, as well as candidates who have either worked within changing organisations helping to manage/facilitate that change or those who have worked in/managed organisations immediately post-change.
How do you apply or get more information?
