What does the organisation do? Art in the Park creates opportunities for participation in environmental art and volunteering in Sheffield & surrounding areas. Our activities inspire individuals and strengthen communities and include working in partnership with local schools, businesses and other cultural organisations as well as holding open access events in green spaces. What is the opportunity? Art in the Park (Sheffield) is looking to recruit 3 new Board Members, with a range of skills and experience to support its work and to help strengthen its strategic management. We are looking to recruit enthusiastic people who are keen to further develop their skills and experience by becoming a trustee. Becoming a board member means becoming part of a small team making strategic plans and decisions for Art in the Park. You will be involved in a wide range of activities including setting the vision, supporting fundraising, approving policy, complying with legal regulations, monitoring finances, setting artistic direction & supporting staff.
What competencies do you need? Of particular interest are candidates with experience of working as a professional artist, in HR or in finance, although we would also welcome applications from candidates with other skills. Essential competencies for any potential board member are a commitment to equal opportunities, the ability to work well as a member of a team and also to contribute individually and an interest in our work.

Is there anything else you should know? Minimum time commitment required is 2 hrs per month to attend board meetings in Sheffield. Deadline for applications is 16th Nov 2009, however we are aware that is a tight timeframe and will also consider applications on an ongoing basis after that date. Successful candidates will be invited for an informal interview in the week beginning 23rd Nov 2009, with the aim being for new members to join the board at the AGM on the 4th December 09.
