Growing Ambitions
Give a half an hour of your time to talk about your
career and raise aspirations
How can you inspire the next generation to aspire to more?
Through Growing Ambitions, a
not-for-profit organisation, you can volunteer to give half-hour
career talks in schools, colleges and universities.
Telling young people about your
workplaces and careers is an easy but crucial contribution you can
make. There is no long-term commitment for volunteer career
speakers, who can opt in and opt out at will. It's neither time
consuming nor costly.
What's in it for you?
Employers know that employee
volunteering increases worker well-being and retention as well as
being a useful, low-cost staff development tool. It's also great PR
and helps to showcase your organisation to school leavers. Career
speaking encourages young people to enter training or further
education, building local skills and workforces.
What are you waiting for?
How do I get involved?
Volunteering is very simple:
1 Register to Speak - a few minutes to complete a screen and
confirm your email address
2 Wait to be contacted by a careers
adviser (from a school, college or uni near your home or
workplace)
3 Fix a good date and time
4 Go in and speak
Easy!
Here's a
Speaker's Guide with a few useful tips.
REGISTER TO SPEAK
Click the Register to Speak link above
and you'll also find some helpful FAQs. Why not encourage your
colleagues and friends to volunteer to register to speak about
their jobs as well?
If your organisation has more than
500 employees, you could have a volunteering portal like this on
your own website. Visit www.growingambitions.org
